The Santa Maria Philharmonic Society presents ‘Music at the Library’, with the 9th Annual Youth Showcase. This recital has become a tradition in the community with young local musicians exploding with mind-blowing virtuosity. This year 10 talented students auditioned and were accepted, ranging from age 7 to 17. The level of maturity in this recital will be extraordinary, with advanced repertoire including two of Chopin’s Scherzi, a movement from Beethoven’s Sonata in C Sharp minor Op. 27, Schumann’s ‘Carnival in Vienna’, and more. The repertoire is exciting and varied with works by composers from around the world: Russia, Hungary, Germany, Spain, France, Austria, and America. This is a not-to-be-missed afternoon of music performed by the young musicians who are the future of classical music.
