HOWL-O-ween Dog Costume Contest:

Get your pups ready for 11th Annual HOWL-O-ween Dog Costume Contest in Ventura Harbor Village, a beloved event for pet owners! Dogs get to show off their alter-egos as their owners dress them up in adorable and imaginative costumes. It’s a chance for these festive furry friends to strut their stuff and compete for prizes in various costume categories. The Instagram-worthy dog costume event is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2023, at noon, and it will take place at the Village Main Lawn (new location) near Deep Sea Winery and The Ultimate Escape Room. Registered participants should plan to check in early around 11:45 AM on the Village Main Lawn to receive their competition numbers before the judging begins.

This contest is exclusively for canines, and a maximum of 75 dogs can participate. There is no entry fee, but we encourage online pre-registration to secure a spot. Registration for the dog costume contest opens on October 20th at 11 AM, allowing dog owners to sign up online. A limited number of spots will be available on the day of the event, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dog owners who register and bring their costumed furry friends to the seaside will receive a delightful package of goodies. This includes a treat bag from Ventura Pet Barn, a special doggie dessert called “pup-cream” courtesy of Coastal Cone, and some Scooby snacks for the owners themselves. A professional photographer will be onsite to capture memorable moments of owners, their adorable dogs, and all the festivities.

In this year’s competition, doggie participants will compete in five costume categories: Best in Show, Spookiest, Most Sea-Worthy, Most On-trend, and Most Creative. What sets this family-friendly event apart is that dog owners are encouraged to join in the theme by dressing up in coordinating costumes.

Five fortunate dogs will earn grand prizes, which include a HOWL-O-Ween blue ribbon, a pumpkin from Ventura Harbor, and a $30 gift certificate to one of Ventura Harbor Village’s partner restaurants. It’s an event that promises fun, creativity, and adorable canine companions celebrating Halloween in style.
