Pacific Grove is located on the Central California Coast, on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, and is bounded on the north by the Monterey Bay, on the east by City of Monterey, on the south by Pebble Beach and on the west of the Pacific Ocean. A city that showcases its history, Pacific Grove has nearly 1,300 structures designated as historic, including hundreds of Victorian houses.
The stunning shoreline of Pacific Grove is 4 ½ miles of rocky outcroppings, quiet coves and sandy beaches with an Oceanside walking trail that stretches from Cannery Row in adjacent Monterey to the gates of Pebble Beach. Pacific Grove also has the oldest operating lighthouse on the west coast “Point Pinos Lighthouse”.
Visitors come from all over to see the thousands of colorful monarch butterflies that spend their winter months in Pacific Grove, clustered in the shelter of the tall pines at the Butterfly Sanctuary. The awesome site each year prompted the city to nickname itself “Butterfly Town, U.S.A.”
