The Ojai Valley Museum is located in downtown Ojai in the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The building is on the National Register of Historic Properties. The original chapel features exhibits on the history of the valley and a walk-in diorama of the Sespe Wilderness that families love. A larger space features temporary exhibitions, typically four each year. The original exhibits highlight a wide variety of topics about the history, art and culture of the valley. A Chumash interpretive garden behind the museum highlights native plants and how they were used. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sundays from 12n-4pm. Admission is $5 per person, $1 per child. nnMost Saturdays the museum offers a historic walking tour of downtown Ojai. The approximately 90 minute tour starts at the museum at 10:30am. The $7 walking tour fee includes museum admission. A docent shares information about the people, places and events that shaped Ojai during the walking tour of downtown. Walking tours are not offered in August, September or on Ojai Day. The site also includes a Visitor Center with free information, maps and brochures in the southwest corner of the building. The Visitors Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10am-4pm and 12-4pm on Sundays. For information on current exhibits and upcoming events, see www.OjaiValleyMuseum.org. n
