Monterey
Monterey Bay Aquarium recently launched an exclusive collection based on marine life illustrations by Executive Director Julie Packard. The Sea Sketches Collection by Julie Packard features accessories and wares made using environmentally-sustainable materials and many produced by woman-owned companies. The new collection also reflects a commitment to protecting ocean health and advancing social justice.
The Aquarium partnered with female makers to transform Julie’s art into sustainable products. For example, the scarves and tea towels are made in India by woman-owned and Virginia-based Nina J Design Studios. It employs only women artisans, paying fair wages so they can support their families and pursue careers as artisans and crafters. The collection is available online. All proceeds support the non-profit organization and help accomplish its mission to inspire conservation of the ocean, especially during these challenging times.
