Monterey County Vintners & Growers
Monterey Wine Country™ boasts over 57 tasting rooms, 349 unique vineyards and 82 wineries. These extraordinary locations are spread throughout three distinct touring regions: Carmel-by-the-Sea/Monterey, Carmel Valley, and River Road. Whether you’re looking for coastal luxury, rustic charm or a truly romantic vineyard experience, you can select your favorite or set out on a weekend adventure, fully experiencing all three. Whichever you choose, we invite you to taste and explore Monterey Wine Country™, meet with winemakers and immerse yourself in the warm authenticity of the region.
Monterey County is the top Chardonnay producer in the United States. Pinot Noir comes in a close second and has recently been scored the highest Pinor Noir region in California for the past three consecutive years by Wine Spectator. Winegrowing mostly takes place in a 90-mile-long valley that experiences a “thermal rainbow™” spreading north-to-south, cold to warm, providing diverse ever-warming micro-climates supporting the growth of over 30 varietals.
